HCYC divides into 6 working parties for part of the meeting. You choose your party whilst signing in before the meeting. These working parties create their own projects in relation to their working party title. Everyone then pitches in to help achieve this goal. The parties are:
PR and Events PR and Events organise advertisement for HCYC and help organise some of the smaller events. Flyers, hoodies and banners can be created, plus helping to organise events with the other groups. More information to follow.
AGM The AGM working party organise HCYC's Annual General Meeting. This meeting celebrates the past year of HCYC and the achievements it has made. It has the largest attendance of any of the meetings in the calendar and so takes a lot of organising. There is a band, food, speakers and much more to consider. More information to follow
Environment and Fairtrade The Environment and Fairtrade group address issues such as cleaner transport and schools becoming eco-friendly. They are currently organising an event for fairtrade week and looking at planting a tree to symbolize HCYC's commitment to green living.
Democracy Dinner The Democracy Dinner is another big event held once a year, where young people get to discuss current issues with councillors, giving them an opportunity to make their voices heard. This generally happens over a formal 3 course meal. Topics have ranged from 'the voting age' to 'banning violent video games'. The working party for the Democracy Dinner organise this event from scratch each year. They decide topics, invite guests, arrange venues and food, and much more.This year the plans are underway. The bid is currently being processed and conversations are currently being held with the cathederal staff to see if we can hold the event outside in their grounds. Youth Commitment The Youth Commitment group organise a document that asks councillors and MPs to commit to several goals that will improve the lives of all young people in Hampshire. The points include breaking down ageist stereotypes such as 'young people are violent' by improving communication between young people and adults. They are currently planning launching at the Democracy Dinner and will be checking that goals are being met anually once the document is signed. Wellbeing Wellbeing covers everything to do with life and living. The Wellbeing working party address issues such as physical and mental health, bullying and education. More information to follow |
